Funny How a Melody Sounds Like a Memory...

Three + hours of singing along to Eric Church, watching him and his band pour their hearts out into each and every song, I tell you it was one for the books. A few of us girls along with our hubby’s traveled to Nashville over Memorial Day weekend for a little one-night getaway. To put it plain… what we encountered was far beyond our expectations! First stop on the way to Music City was our favorite Tennessee small town, Franklin. We paused here for a stroll through downtown and Brunch at a local favorite called 55 South. Shew, the hot Chicken and waffles did not disappoint. Next stop was the adorable Airbnb Boss Lady snagged for the weekend. I repeat A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E with the sweetest front porch and cozy reading nooks. Each bedroom was unique and equally awesome, but our favorite spot had to be this pallet in an open area as soon as you made your way up the stairs. [gallery size="medium" ids="13760,13765,13764"] We enjoyed settling in for a bit before hitting the town for pre-Eric dinner and drinks at the Stillery. Hello fried Macaroni and the yummiest moonshine cocktails – you can imagine us girls were in hog heaven. As we made our way over to Nissan Stadium I’m not sure any of us fully knew what we were about to witness. All I remember is how excited I was to see one of my favorite artists of all time take the stage and play a show people had warned would be epic. You know us, we had to snag some Church merchandise before we found our seats (we brought back the cutest tanks and tees you will likely see us wearing around the shop!) But when the lights went dark and the sound of the band ignited… it was like everything else just stopped. For over three hours this man played a set of songs from six different albums. I swear his voice was better in person than on any of his records. Yeah, people say live music is better but his vocals were truly on another level there in that moment. I remember thinking about some of the concerts my parents told me they went to when they were younger… Rod Stewart, Prince, 38 Special, and Bruce Springsteen to name a few. No cell phones, no social media, just them and the crowd listening to some kick ass music. Don’t get me wrong I definitely took some photos and video of this concert (I’m a millennial, duh.) However, I did make a conscious effort to gaze out over the crowd and let myself create a memory only in my mind. One that I can tell you about here: I saw a sea of country loving people gathered in one place for one reason, and I thought to myself, “we could use a little more of this.” [gallery size="medium" ids="13762,13756,13758"] To say we enjoyed this trip would be a total understatement. We LOVED this trip. It was short and sweet and kind of life changing. Until next time, Eric (yes we are already looking for the next closest tour date near us!) xo
